We love FIFA here at Rush Football, but nowadays it seems that everyone is too concerned with having the best team with the highest ratings. So that got us thinking, who are the lowest rated players on the game, and do they deserve such low ratings?

After some research, we found that the lowest rating on FIFA 17 Ultimate Team is 45, and this rating is shared by a number of players. So we’ve picked four of those players to see whether the rating system is accurate. To put things into perspective, Jack Wilshere, who has spent the season at Bournemouth and failed to find the net once, is rated 82. That’s an almighty 37 ratings higher than these players, and that just doesn’t seem right. Although, we appreciate that FIFA need a wide spread of ratings and that someone always has to be the lowest.

  • Max Wright (Grimsby Town)

Like all the other players on this list, Max Wright is a youngster. At 19 years old, he currently plays for Grimsby Town in League Two. The video below shows Max, on his loan spell at Sutton Coldfield, running from the half way with the ball at his feet before a very calm finish. The people at FIFA that are in charge of the ratings need to watch this video and reconsider the 45 they gave Max!

  • Josh Venney (Grimsby Town)

Another Grimsby Town youngster, Josh Venney spent his youth career with the Mariners before going on a loan spell with Boston United. However, he is now back in Grimsby and determined to prove his worth. The video below shows Josh representing the Grimsby Town u-15s, after some nice footwork and a cracking one-two he neatly slots the ball past the goalkeeper. Even at that age Venney looked deserving of a rating higher than 45!

  • Alex Atkinson (Luton Town)

Atkinson signed for the Hatters’ u-15s after spells at Fulham and Wycombe Wanderers. In 2014, he joined Luton’s u-18s and has won the Football League Youth Alliance double and reached the FA Youth Cup quarter-finals. In fact, he took, and scored, the winning penalty to help them reach the quarter-finals. Impressive stuff. However, earlier this year he became a free agent. Despite this, I’m sure that we will see Alex on FIFA 18 once another club snap him up!

  • Sam Sargeant (Leyton Orient)

The 19 year old goalkeeper spent his youth career with the O’s before getting his chance in the senior team in 2016. He even kept a clean sheet on his debut! After a number of appearances for the club since then, Sargeant is showing real potential and looks set to lose the honour of being the lowest rated FIFA player on the next FIFA. He’s certainly one to watch!

Overall, it seems as if these players might feel a little hard done by after seeing their ratings. But the fact that they are able to play as themselves on FIFA is tremendously impressive and every FIFA player’s dream. Also, all four are still very young and there is no telling what rating they may be in a few years time. Who knows, one of these lot could be on the cover of a FIFA game in the near future…
