Whisper it quietly, but the new Premier League season is not that far away now and, before you know it, we’ll but wondering just exactly what it’s like to not have football about…

Indeed, it isn’t long until we delve into another season of club football and so, as is customary at this time of year, it’s time to wheel out some season preview material.

Here at Rush Football, then, we’re taking a look at each Premier League club’s best four stars for the coming campaign and next up it’s Anfield outfit Liverpool.

See if you agree with our selections…

Sadio Mane

mane

Mane was the difference for Liverpool last season thanks to his direct, rapid style.

The Reds had needed a player of his type for some time. Someone who was going to pick the ball up out wide, drive forwards, and cause havoc in the final third – something he did in abundance last year.

A nasty injury curtailed his season but he’ll be back in the side ASAP to give opposing defences plenty more to think about.

Mo Salah

salah

Liverpool, it appears, have learned from their Mane lesson last season with them moving to sign the equally fleet-footed Salah from AS Roma.

There will be question marks around him after his poor spell at Chelsea but he is a far better player now and his goals and assists in Serie A last season suggest he’s more than ready to perform here, too.

If he does, Liverpool will have one explosive front line.

Roberto Firmino

firmino

The man affectionately known as Bobby F proved himself to be Jurgen Klopp’s number 1 striker last season with some fine displays.

He may not be a 25 goal-a-season striker but his link up play with the rest of the Reds’ attack is what makes him one of their best players.

When he and Philippe Coutinho link up it looks telepathic and the Reds will need plenty more of that as they look for a trophy this season coming.

Philippe Coutinho

coutinho

Speaking of Coutinho, it wouldn’t be a best players at Liverpool list if we didn’t mention the Brazilian.

Capable of winning games with a magical bit of skill, Coutinho shone brightly last season.

He did, of course, go off the boil at points, too, and still needs to cut that out of his game to become a world star but he was in superb form at the end of the season as Liverpool confirmed a top four finish.

Now it’s time to get them some silverware.

Have we missed anyone? Let us know!
