Whisper it quietly, but the new Premier League season is not that far away now and, before you know it, we’ll but wondering just exactly what it’s like to not have football about…

Indeed, it isn’t long until we delve into another season of club football and so, as is customary at this time of year, it’s time to wheel out some season preview material.

Here at Rush Football, then, we’re taking a look at each Premier League club’s best four stars for the coming campaign and next up it’s Southampton.

See if you agree with our selections…

Virgil van Dijk

van dijk

The Dutch defender was superb last season and that has led him to be linked to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.

Even so, he’s still at Southampton and for as long as he is he’s going to be one of their best players.

This would be some coup if the club managed to keep hold of him.

Cedric Soares

Cedric is another top defender who has been linked away in recent weeks but is still at the club.

We think it’s more likely he’ll be staying past this summer too, than van Dijk, and so expect plenty more gutsy displays down the right flank.

His underrated tag is finally going and he is beginning to get the recognition he deserves.

Manolo Gabbiadini

Gabbiadini was class when he arrived at Southampton and will easily be the main man up top when the new campaign begins.

If he can get on a hot-streak we could be looking at 20 goals from him this season and that kind of return would see the club challenge for Europe.

Oriol Romeu

romeu

Romeu is one of the Saints’ supporters’ favourite players because of the way he applies himself in midfield.

He has improved immensely over the past few seasons and can now mix it with the very best in the division in the centre of the park.

For sure, he’s going to be a key part of Mauricio Pellegrino’s side this season coming.

Have we missed anyone? Let us know!
