Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino was in frank mood this evening as he reflected on his side’s loss to West Brom.

The game at The Hawthorns had much riding on it.

The Baggies had to win to stay afloat in the top flight for at least a little while longer whilst Spurs could have also done with the three points as they look to secure a top four spot.

It was the hosts who took it, though, and that leaves the North London outfit still in range of Chelsea who face Liverpool tomorrow.

Missing out on the top four is still unlikely for Spurs but, if they do end up falling out at the final couple of hurdles, the Argentine manager feels that it would be deserved:

“We knew how they would play. If you want to be in the top four and challenge for the big things, you need to score in these games.

“It is in our hands. If we are not able to win the next two games we do not deserve to qualify for the Champions League.”

Up next for Spurs is Newcastle in the week before they host Leicester City on the final day.

Thoughts, Spurs fans? Let us know!

  1. Not good enough, and the manager’s sanguine comments don’t help either. We had the CL, FA Cup and 2nd place in our grasp and now we’re doing our best to chuck it all away. Utter disaster!

  2. Spurs supporters have to suffer this “will they, wont they” feeling at this stage every season it seems, and I have to say I felt Spurs would lose today. They definitely lack finishing power, and Levy must pay the going wages or the current team and Management will fall apart.
