According to Football.London, Arsenal are closing in on the signing of goalkeeper Markus Schubert this summer.
The Gunners finished outside of the Champions League spots last season and with their loss in the Europa League final, too, another spell in the latter tournament awaits.
The Gunners, then, might be limited in terms of who they can bring in with them looking for a new stopper after Petr Cech retired from the game at the end of last season.
Certainly, whoever comes in will have to be content – to start with – with being Bernd Leno’s number two and it seems Dynamo Dresden man Schubert could be handed the role.
At 21-years-old, he’s very young for a goalkeeper but he is highly rated in Germany and it is clear that he has got every chance of launching his career in the Premier League.
However, Leno is no mug and he will have to work hard to try and get that number 1 jersey off of him.
