According to Wales Online, Aston Villa have seen a bid rejected by Cardiff City for goalkeeper Neil Etheridge.

The Philippines international enjoyed a decent campaign in the Premier League for the Bluebirds last season on an individual basis – even if they were relegated as a team.

It looks as though he might have the chance to remain in the top flight, though, but Villa could well have to up their game if they want to bring him in.

Indeed, Cardiff are in no desperate need to sell their players and with Etheridge a very handy goalkeeper they are not going to want to lose him at all.

Villa, meanwhile, have the likes of Jed Steer, Orjan Nyland and Lovre Kalinic in their ranks in terms of goalkeeping options.

If Etheridge ends up at the club, then, you get the feeling at least one of those will leave the club before the transfer window is shut in August.
