Newcastle United have improved in recent weeks and, though they lost to West Ham last time out, they look set for another season in the Premier League.

A decent recent run of form has left them clear of the likes of Cardiff and Southampton who remain scrapping to get away from the drop zone.

Rafa Benitez, then, deserves plenty of credit and, again, in the summer he should be backed because it is clear the Magpies have superb potential.

Whether or not he wants to keep Salomon Rondon from West Brom remains to be seen, too, but it seems as though the powerful forward wants to stay put.

As reported by Chronicle Live, Rondon has said that he has let the club know he wants to stay on Tyneside and that it’s now up to them.

He said:

“I have spoken with them and made it clear. If there is an opportunity for me to be here – I’ll stay here 100%.”

He might not be prolific but he is a real presence up top and you’d think Magpies would like him to stay.
