According to the Daily Mail, PSG have looked to steal a march on other clubs in the race for Matthijs De Ligt this summer.

The report alleges that the French giants and oil-rich side have offered the Dutch defender a deal that is worth £11m-a-year – frankly ludicrous money.

The Dutch defender certainly has plenty of quality with him helping lead Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals.

He is also a fully fledged international with him helping the Netherlands make the UEFA Nations League final earlier on this month.

PSG are hoping to beat the likes of Manchester United, Juventus and Barcelona with this big offer, then, and it remains to be seen if they are going to be successful.

United will hope they are not perhaps most of all, though, with them out of the Champions League and desperate for players that will get them back into it as soon as possible.
