Liverpool have seen their under-23 manager Neil Critchley leave for Blackpool today, with the League One club confirming him as their new first-team manager on Twitter.

The Reds have had a good season so far and are top of the Premier League, though they did lose at the weekend to Watford.

Up next, an FA Cup game with Chelsea on Tuesday night and the fact that they are there is down to the performance of the young players who helped the side beat Everton and then Shrewsbury Town.

Critchley, of course, was in charge for the latter game against the Shrews and his work at the academy has earned him this role at Blackpool as first team manager.

The Tangerines will be looking to finish this season strongly, then, though it is hard to see them making a push for promotion this season after a poor run of form that cost Simon Grayson his job there.
