Crystal Palace have opened talks with Andros Townsend over getting him onto a new long-term contract as they bid to keep the winger at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles have had a decent enough start to the season with them beating the likes of Manchester United and, most recently, Fulham in the Premier League.

They’ll be looking to build on that win at Craven Cottage after a brief dip in terms of results, meanwhile, and will be looking to the likes of Townsend to help them in that aim.

With that in mind, then, they are looking to get him on a new long-term deal as per Football Insider, in a bid to ward off interest from other clubs who may feel they can nick him away.

A proven Premier League performer, he’s still got several years left in him at this level and it would make sense for Palace to keep him in house, rather than risk losing him to sides around them.
