Leicester City stars Jamie Vardy and James Maddison will miss this weekend’s FA Cup clash with Stoke City.

The Foxes are firmly in a title race this season along with the likes of Liverpool and the two Manchester clubs, but they’d surely like a cup run this season, too.

However, Brendan Rodgers may well ring the changes against the Potters to give some of his team a rest with two key men picking up injuries, as per Leicestershire Live.

Vardy has aggravated a hip problem that he regularly carries around with him whilst Maddison has injured his knee, and so both are set to miss out this weekend.

Rush Football’s take

It’s probably a precautionary measure to leave the pair out and most Foxes fans will be happy enough with that.

Of course, they’d like a good run in the cup as they have a squad capable of dealing with that and league duties but it also makes sense, particularly this season, to rotate at moments like this – especially off of the back of the Christmas period.

Vardy and Maddison have been important players for Leicester City for some time and having them fit and raring to go in the Premier League makes perfect sense.
