James McCarthy received a nasty leg injury last season where Salomon Rondon completely accidentally broke it in two places.

Soon after, the Irishman would need surgery and from there a long road to recovery would be embarked upon.

However, the midfielder is gradually making progress now and it looks as though he is getting closer to getting back into training with his team-mates.

Indeed, Marco Silva revealed:

“He is progressing well.

“We expect in the next weeks to start, slow-by-slow and step-by-step, working with the team.”

We could be looking at him getting back amongst it with the rest of the Blues later on this month, then, and that is obviously something to be applauded.

It’s never nice to see a player suffer such a horrific injury but it does happen in the game.

Recovery rates are superb these days, though, and the midfielder looks set to be the latest proof of that.
