It’s been a tough start to the season for Manchester United and many of their fans are not happy about the way things are right now.

The Old Trafford outfit went into this season hoping that it would be them who took the challenge to Manchester City.

However, things have proven far different with them struggling for performances and results, as well as some losing patience with Jose Mourinho.

It’s far from a happy camp right now, then, but former star Edwin Van Der Sar has offered his backing to the Portuguese manager and his players ahead of the rest of the campaign.

As quoted by Goal, the Dutchman said:

“With the qualities they have, Manchester United should be challenging for titles or top four, but it will be really hard.”

Of course, atop-fourr finish is the bare minimum a club like United should be going for.

Right now, though, that would be a success given the way this season is going and so it remains to be seen whether or not they can turn things around.
