Newcastle United announced Allan Saint-Maximin had signed a new contract with the club last week to keep him, in theory, on Tyneside until 2026 in what is a real statement of intent from the club.
The Magpies have been up and down a bit this season and lost to Manchester United at the weekend in what was a disappointing defeat.
Saint-Maximin’s new contract is something to be excited about, though, and former midfielder Michael Brown has offered his take on the situation.
Indeed, he has offered praise for the club and the player for reaching such an agreement and was quoted by Football Insider as saying:
“He’s exciting, he gets you off your seat.
“A six-year-deal, that’s a huge commitment. They obviously see he’s heading in the right direction and Steve Bruce is certainly getting the best out of him.”
Newcastle have him locked in for his best years and in that time he could become a real threat.
Indeed, this also helps them guard against losing him on the cheap because he is bound to attract interest with the way he is playing.
A good deal, then, and he’ll be looking to kick on now.
