Spurs made plenty of headlines last night as they beat Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford on what was a bonkers day in the Premier League.
Amazingly, the result was rather upstaged by what was to come at Villa Park but, even so, it was a result that sent shockwaves globally, with Spurs ruthlessly taking United to the cleaners.
Among the impressive performances, Son was a key architect of United’s downfall and his numbers – via whoscored – reflect that considerably.
The headline stat, of course, was his two goals. The first was perhaps his best strike as a quick-thinking Harry Kane played him in from a dead-ball.
He burst past Eric Bailly and Luke Shaw before deftly guiding the ball past David de Gea and into the net at the Stretford End.
As well as his goals – which came from two shots on target so 100% success there – he was also close to perfection with his pass accuracy.
A player in the final third like Son sometimes sees their accuracy drop given they play more risky balls but Son hit 97%, a frankly astonishing feat.
Among those passes, five of them were key and one ended up as an assist with him coming off before full-time as Jose Mourinho gave him a rest.
Clearly, it was one well earned.
