Liverpool midfielder James Milner has taken to Twitter this evening to react to the controversial penalty that was awarded to Brighton in the lunchtime game in the Premier League earlier today.
The Reds were on course for three points via a 1-0 scoreline after a game that had seen them have two goals ruled out for offside earlier on in the piece.
Brighton, though, would salvage a point as a penalty was given for a clash of feet between Danny Welbeck and Andy Robertson, which Pascal Gross put away.
Certainly, it was a contentious decision with it going to the pitchside monitor and VAR first of all and several Reds players and Brighton players have expressed their view it wasn’t a penalty.
Milner, too, appears to be of the opinion that VAR needs work at the moment:
It’s “clear and obvious” we need a serious discussion about VAR. Sure I’m not alone in feeling like they are falling out of love with the game in its current state. pic.twitter.com/5FGgLtqbHs

Rush Football’s take
Milner isn’t one to speak his mind unless he feels he has a point to make and you can see why the Reds feel a little harshly done by.
VAR is a good idea, if it used well, but we are seeing a lot of decisions at the moment getting criticised for taking the ‘fun’ out of the game.
It’s perhaps a debate to be had, then, but it remains to be seen if such a review actually takes place.
