Jason Pearce is set for a scan on a knee injury this week in a blow to Charlton Athletic’s pre-season preparations.
The skipper is set to stay at The Valley for another season after seeing them drop into League One and that kind of commitment to the cause sums up his stay in SE7 so far.
Losing him to injury, then, would be a big blow before the season has already begun – especially with the number of defenders the club has already seen leave – but Lee Bowyer admits that it’s not looking particularly good.
Quoted by the South London Press, he said:
“Pearcey hurt his knee on Friday.
“So that’s why he wasn’t involved in the game.
“He is going to have a scan. It doesn’t look good.”
Charlton drew with Birmingham City at the weekend in a pre-season friendly and will be looking to up their preparations in the next couple of weeks with the new campaign not far away now.
Off-field matters are dominating the headlines, though, so fans will be hoping that can be sorted as soon as.
