Newcastle United’s Allan Saint-Maximin has admitted that he has dreams of playing in the Champions League but that he hopes to achieve European football with his current club.

The winger has shone again this season with him one of the most exciting players in the Premier League on song, let alone in the Newcastle squad.

Naturally, then, he’ll have aspirations of playing as high up as he can in the club game and Newcastle will hope that they can offer him the platform of European football, though it will be tough given how many good sides there are in the Premier League.

They were once a Champions League side, though, and a return to those nights for St James’ Park would delight fans and the winger alike.

He said via Sport France:

“For my part, everything will depend on this development.

“If the club is developing well, and it’s in line with my desires, staying is a possibility. Afterwards, if things don’t turn out like that, obviously the question of leaving will arise.

“Now we’re in a huge league with a lot of big teams, so being able to play in Europe and the Europa League would be really great.

“The Champions League is a big dream, every footballer wants to play it. It’s a great, historic club that has a lot of dreams, and there is everything around it to achieve this goal.”

Newcastle will want to develop with him, of course, and the next couple of seasons could be crucial in terms of them keeping hold of him.
