Kalvin Phillips is set to return to light training this week for Leeds United as he steps up his recovery from a shoulder injury.

The holding midfielder has been missing for the Whites in the last couple of weeks and that rather showed on Monday night as Leicester City beat them 4-1 at Elland Road.

The midfielder gives them obvious balance in the middle of the park and his energy and quality on the ball is exceptional, too, so many a side would miss the recently capped England international.

He’s upping his return now, though, and whilst he is not going to be ready for the Crystal Palace game up next, he isn’t going to be far away.

Indeed, the news has delighted Noel Whelan who had this to say via Football Insider:

“It is a huge boost to hear that about Kalvin.

“We need to try and get these players back as soon as possible.

“It was noticeable against Leicester that he was not there and of course you miss big players like that.”

Phillips is a quality player and the sooner he is back the better for the Whites, who will be looking to get back winning as soon as.
