According to the Daily Mail, Leeds United are currently the side in pole position to sign young winger Liam McCarron this summer.

The youngster has shone for Carlisle United and has caught the eye of the likes of the Whites and Premier League outfit Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, despite the Old Gold’s status as a top-flight club, it currently seems as though the Whites are the favourites to get this deal sorted out.

They have got an excellent academy at Leeds at the moment thanks to the work of the likes of Victor Orta and Carlos Corberan and working in such a system must be attractive to young players.

The likes of Jack Clarke, Jamie Shackleton and Ryan Edmondson all look very good prospects and McCarron will hope that he too can earn first-team opportunities if he does end up signing for the Yorkshire club.

Wolves, meanwhile, will hope they can swing it their way.
