For some reason, Leroy Sane hasn’t quite been up to scratch this year amid many claiming his head isn’t in it at the moment.

Scintillating last season as Man City galloped to the title, the winger has been in and out of the team this year.

Meanwhile, he missed the World Cup rather shockingly as he was overlooked and the likes of Toni Kroos have questioned his mentality.

However, last night, despite Germany losing rather toothlessly against the Netherlands, the winger did come in for some praise.

He missed some chances, by Joachim Low, on the whole, seemed fairly pleased with what he and fellow youngster Julian Brandt produced.

He said:

“They need time to develop. We are still searching to set up a good balance between the experienced players and the young players.”

Perhaps, then, this will be a turning point for Sane this season for both club and country.

He’s started to play more for City in recent weeks whilst if he can impress Low further in the coming months he should, rightly, be back in the side.

Time will soon tell.
