Liverpool head to Everton after the international break in a big game at the top of the Premier League.

The Merseyside derby is always a huge clash in the top flight calendar but this one at Goodison Park seems to have more riding on it than normal.

Liverpool are looking to bounce back from their defeat at Aston Villa whilst Everton are looking to open up a gap at the top of the table.

Indeed, it should be a fascinating clash and Reds man Steve Nicol has offered his concerns about the game and the threat that James Rodriguez possesses.

Quoted by ESPNFC, he said:

“Regardless of who the next opposition was going to be, I am questioning the backline.

“The fact that it is Everton and James, and the fact that if Liverpool decide to keep playing this ridiculous high line, if there was one man who can stick the ball behind with accuracy, it is James.”

Liverpool do play a high line and at the weekend it was taken to the cleaners by an Aston Villa side who probably could not believe how easily they were breaking through on goal and getting chances to score.

A player like James Rodriguez, then, could cause similar damage.
