Lucas Moura has offered some insight into the morale at Tottenham after a tough week ended on a high note with Spurs beating Aston Villa on Sunday night.
The Lilywhites lost the North London derby against Arsenal before a humiliating loss away at Dinamo Zagreb that saw a 2-0 first-leg lead turned into a 3-2 defeat by the end of the tie.
Indeed, Jose Mourinho cut a pretty distraught and downcast figure on Thursday night after the game with many questioning the mentality of some of the squad and suggestions that things were not a happy camp at Tottenham.
However, as quoted by the Independent, Moura’s insight suggests that the Spurs squad remains together and behind manager Mourinho.
“We are all together. We’re in the same boat. We lose together, we win together.
“What happened in Croatia was our fault. Everyone is included. When we’re on the pitch, we just want to win. We know there are a lot of fans behind the TV supporting us. We play for our family, we play for pride and we’re all together.
“We believe in the coach. We believe in the coach because we know his history. We just want to be successful here.”
Rush Football’s take
Given Mourinho’s history at different football clubs, it’s perhaps no shock to see suggestions of upset at Spurs come about when things do start going wrong.
He certainly questioned some of his players on Thursday night but the response on Sunday was a good one against Aston Villa, make no mistake.
Mourinho and Tottenham can still end this season with a trophy with the League Cup final coming up next month and achieving that would be very welcome at the club.
Losing it, though, will surely spark more questions.
