Manchester United are set to complete their first signing of the summer by securing Benfica defender Victor Lindelof for a reported fee of £30.7m.

A statement on the Manchester United website read:

Manchester United is pleased to announce that it has reached agreement with Benfica for the transfer of Victor Lindelof, subject to a medical examination, international clearance and personal terms.”

The commanding centre back made 45 competitive appearances for Benfica last season, which included 8 in the Champions League as the Portuguese club reached the round of 16 before going out to Borussia Dortmund.

The expected signing of Victor Lindelof and the return of Eric Bailly means the chances of former United player Michael Keane re-joining is increasing unlikely. Meanwhile, the potential signing of Alvaro Morata has taken a dramatic turn after the player removed ‘Real Madrid’ from his Instagram bio, adding to speculation of his departure from the Bernabeu.
