Manchester City might well be giving up on their transfer chase for Harry Maguire this summer as his asking price looks eye-wateringly big.

The England international is one of the best centre-halves in the Premier League and Leicester City – his current club – are all too aware of that.

Indeed, according to the Daily Mail, they have slapped a £90m price-tag on the powerful defender and that has left Manchester City, frankly, aghast.

In fact, the report is suggesting that the fee is making Manchester United think twice as well, as the financial power each Premier League club has continues to grow.

The Foxes might not be in the top six clubs but they are one of the best of the rest in the division and, clearly, they do not need to sell in order to grow.

Such a fee would eclipse the current transfer record paid for a defender, too, with it currently at £75m which Liverpool paid for Virgil van Dijk.
