According to the Express, Manchester United have launched a move for James Maddison and are currently in talks over a potential move with his representatives.
Whether or not United actually get him in remains to be seen, of course, but it looks as though they are trying to sign him and make him their first arrival of the window.
The report suggests that United have opened talks ahead of a potential move from Leicester City with him proving one of the top creative outlets in Europe last season.
Leicester signed him from Norwich City in last season’s summer window, of course, after he had torn up the Championship in 2017/18.
In 2018/19, meanwhile, he was one of the leading players for chances created in the Premier League – not bad in a side that was outside the top six in the league.
He could be the sort of signing, then, that gets United back on the right track.
