Both Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin have been ruled out with injury until April in a double blow to Newcastle United.
The Magpies are looking to secure safety from relegation into the Championship as soon as they can but the consistency needed to do that has not yet been found by the club.
Attacking output is set to be hampered further now, too, with both Almiron and Saint-Maximin set to be on the sidelines for the whole of March with a handful of games on the way before the international break.
Rush Football’s take
There are a lot of issues at Newcastle at the moment and this will not help their cause.
They need goals to get them out of trouble and with the attacking pair joining Callum Wilson on the sidelines at St James’ Park there is an obvious dearth of options in the final third.
The relegation battle has come to life in recent weeks in the Premier League with Fulham showing real signs of life, whilst you wouldn’t rule out West Bromwich Albion just yet.
Indeed, it’s going to be about who can handle this intense run of matches between now and the end of the season that decides who stays up and so picking up injuries is far from ideal for the men from Tyneside.
