Newcastle United are in the process of trying to discover the extent of Miguel Almiron’s injury that forced him off of the pitch for Paraguay in their game with Peru, as per the Northern Echo.

The Magpies have had a decent start to the season so far in the Premier League and will be itching to get going again next weekend once the domestic game returns.

They, like every side that has got players away on internationals at the moment, are certainly hoping for their men to come back fit and firing but it looks as though Almiron is giving them a headache.

According to the report, the men from Tyneside are trying to establish whether he was simply taken off with cramp of whether it was because of a muscular injury, in which case he might face a longer lay-off.

It’s one to monitor, then, and in this most congested season Steve Bruce will have everything crossed.
