Newcastle United are making some big moves in the summer window this week and could have a very exciting looking side come the start of the Premier League season.
The Magpies had perhaps hoped to be splashing big cash under new ownership by now but, of course, that has rather fallen by the wayside.
However, Steve Bruce is using the chequebook now with Callum Wilson arriving and taking the number 9 shirt, as well as the likes of Ryan Fraser and Jamal Lewis on the brink of arriving.
Pace, then, appears to be the order of the day at St James’ Park and, suddenly, you have to feel the Magpies could surprise a fair few this season.
In Allan Saint-Maximum and Miguel Almiron the club already had rapid wide-players that could create chances but, of course, were seeing Joelinton struggling to take them.
Now, they have a player in Wilson who carries a fair bit of pace himself and can score goals for fun at this level.
Lewis from full-back will be no slouch after impressing last season for Norwich whilst Ryan Fraser is an old-school winger, one that should have a good relationship with Wilson already.
Newcastle became gradually more watchable last season and entertained particularly after lockdown, with Saint-Maximum the ring leader and it became clear that Steve Bruce was willing to let them off the leash a little more.
Magpies fans want attacking football even more at St James’ Park this season, though, and it looks as though Bruce is ready to try and provide that further with these deals.
It’s been turgid at times in recent years on Tyneside, now it looks as though Bruce is ready to turbocharge his side.
