Rangers have been given a big boost in their battle for George Edmundson by Football Insider’s latest claim.

The publication did report yesterday that Peterborough United had had a bid accepted for the defender by Oldham Athletic and they appeared to be in the driving seat.

However, their latest report suggests that despite that the Gers are still probably in pole position thanks to the player’s preferred destination.

Indeed, the youngster apparently has eyes on Ibrox this summer and wants to link up with Steven Gerrard’s team.

Of course, Rangers still need to make a bid that Oldham find acceptable – so far they have failed with their bids – but if they can manage that this seems almost a slam dunk.

The Gers are looking to add to their defence this summer with the likes of Joe Worrall leaving after his loan deal expired and he returned to Nottingham Forest a few weeks ago.
