Quoted by Sky Sports in his regular prediction column, Paul Merson has delivered a warning to Liverpool that they must score early against Burnley.

The Reds now find themselves a point behind Manchester City in the title race and with City going first this weekend, that could become four points before the Anfield side kicks off.

Worry, then, will be setting in on Merseyside if the team does not get off to a quick start against the Clarets tomorrow lunchtime – according to Merson.

He said:

“Liverpool need to win this game and they need to score early because the longer the game goes on, the bigger the panic.”

Certainly, you can see the reasoning behind the former Arsenal player’s comments.

Liverpool have shown they are a little bit edgy in recent weeks and though they haven’t lost any games, they have drawn too many.

An early goal should see them on their way, but Burnley are a stubborn outfit and will consider themselves in with a chance of getting a point at least, the longer things go on.
