According to a report from The Sun, West Ham United might have to offer Declan Rice an improved contract that includes wages of £120,000-a-week in order to keep him at the club.

The midfielder is fast becoming one of West Ham’s key stars in the middle of the park and his performances for the Irons have led to speculation that he could move on from east London.

However, he has remained at the club up until now and it sounds as though the Irons are aware of what it is going to take to try and keep him for a little while longer.

The report reveals the contract offer would be one of several years and include wages of £120k-a-week, a figure that would make him the highest paid player at the club.

Certainly, with him becoming one of the key men at the club in the last couple of seasons you can see why the Irons might have to fork out to try and fend off further interest in him.
