Well there may have been less teams in action from the top flight this weekend but they certainly more than made up for that…

The weekend saw both the FA Cup semi-finals take place and the Premier League get through another set of fixtures with plenty of great games to take in.

Whilst Chelsea delivered a sucker punch against Spurs, Arsenal overcame the odds to beat Manchester City to set up the cup final.

In the league, meanwhile, Crystal Palace beat Liverpool in the result of the week whilst Hull and Swansea continued their survival battle with wins.

So, with that all in mind, it can only be time for one thing – Rush Football’s Team of the Week…

GK: Eldin Jakupovic

Hull continued their charge for survival with a fine 2-0 win over Watford at the KCOM Stadium. The Tigers have been going along brilliantly at home this season and Jakupovic was key in keeping a clean sheet during this one.

RB: Rob Holding

When Arsenal signed Holding from Bolton many were wondering exactly why Arsene Wenger had done it but we’re beginning to see why. He was very solid against Manchester City in the cup and deserves to keep his place in the side.

CB: David Luiz

You can’t really mock David Luiz anymore, he really has become one of the league’s best defenders. He was good against Spurs at the weekend and helped the Blues stand firm before they broke through and took the victory.

CB: James Collins

The Welsh defender was good again for West Ham and has been a big part of them managing to get safe. Mathematically they could still drop but it’s unlikely now and Collins helped them achieve that with a strong showing against Everton.

LB: Sam Clucas

Clucas really has been an emerging star for Hull this season and deserves all the plaudits again this week. His free-kick against Watford was sublime and we wouldn’t be surprised to see him move on in the summer.

CDM: Nemanja Matic

When you score a goal like Matic did in an FA Cup semi-final you’re going to be in the Team of the Week. The Serbian was strong in the game but his goal really was special – make sure you see it if you haven’t already.

RAM: Willian

Willian was a cool head in a heated atmosphere with his two nicely taken goals at Wembley. His free-kick opened the scoring before his penalty was dispatched clinically as he reminded Chelsea that he too is a superb star.

CAM: Eden Hazard

Hazard came on for the Blues against Spurs and helped turn the tide. His comfort in possession was something else and he duly scored the goal that gave the Blues the win as he made it 3-2 before Matic’s thunderbolt.

CAM: Wayne Rooney

Rooney enjoyed a rare start for United and used it well with a goal to help give the Red Devils a crucial win. He didn’t look too rusty in the game and led by example as his team closed the gap on Liverpool.

LAM: Anthony Martial

Martial has been one of many United players to be hammered by Jose Mourinho but he responded well in this one. He looked confident and full of menace against Burnley and finished off a fine break-away goal.

ST: Christian Benteke

Benteke went back to Anfield and once again scored against Liverpool – his former side of course. Palace were well organised and carried out their game plan brilliantly as the big Belgian took advantage of some poor Reds defending.
