The Champions League returned this week with some big games and some big scores to kick off the group stages.

But, who makes our Champions League team of the week? Take a look right here…

The Roma stopper put on an absolute clinic for the Italian side as they kept Atletico Madrid at bay.

The Italians could have done with winning this game at home against the Spanish side but at least a draw gives them something.

Davide Zappacosta

The right-back was largely unknown when he signed for Chelsea but he’s quickly changing that. Hit the back of the net and marauded forward at will against Qarabag.

Stefan Savic

Though Atleti were dominant against Roma, they still needed to keep things tight and Savic underlined his qualities with a top display in helping them do that.

Kostas Manolas

Opposite Savic for Roma was Manolas. He stopped the shots before Alisson could in goal as the Italians held on.

John Stones

Derided greatly at times, Stones was superb against Feyenoord for Manchester City last night. Bagged a goal for himself too.

Ran the game against Anderlecht for Bayern Munich in a supreme display. Deserves to be classed as one of the best midfielders about.

Marco Verratti

Verratti also bossed his game as PSG trounced Celtic. He may be small in the middle of the park but he is a giant in terms of talent.

Cesc Fabregas

He’s always going to get you an assist and pulled the strings as Chelsea battered Qarabag 6-0.

Lionel Messi

Two goals against Juventus and another unstoppable display from the Argentine. He finally has his goals against Gianluigi Buffon.

Harry Kane

Kane is scoring now it’s September and he banged in two against Dortmund as Spurs made a statement at Wembley.

Edinson Cavani

So often the forgotten man at PSG, Cavani was electric up top as he helped the French side off to a flyer.
