Route to Russia:
Simple. 10 games, 10 wins. They scored 43 and only conceded 4. This German team is nothing, if not efficient.
How far can they get:
As the holders, expectations are high. Germany have a very strong squad and an experienced manager. So unsurprisingly, they are one of the favourites. The German squad is a little weaker than expected due to a couple of injuries to key players but they will still harbour intentions of reaching the final.
Joachim Löw. He is probably the best international manager at this World Cup. He has been Germany’s manager since 2008 and since his time in charge, Germany have never exited a tournament before the quarter-finals. Eight years ago, they finished third and four years ago, they lifted the trophy. This Summer, they will have similar intentions.
One to Watch:
Toni Kroos. The Real Madrid man makes this German team tick. He doesn’t quite have the same flair as Reus or Sane. But, with Madrid and Germany, he has made a habit of winning. The serial winner’s mentality cannot be bettered or replaced.
