Danny Ings is set to sign a new contract with Southampton as the striker continues to enjoy his time on the south coast after a move from Liverpool.
Ings fired goals in for fun last season for the Saints and finally looks to have found a club where he can settle and score goals, with him staying fit for far longer than he did during a testing time at Liverpool.
Indeed, the Reds’ loss is the Saints’ gain and it looks as though they are on course to keep him around for a little while longer yet with The Athletic reporting that the forward is close to inking a new deal.
Ings scored the first Saints goal at the weekend in an entertaining 3-3 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League and, at the age of 28, is in his prime as a striker.
Naturally, then, Southampton want to keep him for as long as possible.
