According to the Lancashire Telegraph, Sunderland are interested in Accrington Stanley’s Ross Sykes.

The two sides were several divisions away from one another not so long ago but this season they have faced each other thanks to respective relegation and promotion.

Even so, it looks like the Black Cats could well be in a different league once again next season with the way they are playing, and they are interested in taking Sykes with them.

Still very young, he’s got plenty of room to grow and he’ll feel as though that with Sunderland he could really start to launch his career.

The Black Cats have a game in hand on Barnsley who are in second place in League One and if they win that they will go above them.

Sykes would surely be interested in a move to a Championship club, then, though Stanley are thought to be keen to offer him a new contract themselves.
