Football is already back tonight as we embark on a full mid-week fixture list in the Premier League.
The weekend saw some more great twists and turns at both ends of the table with Chelsea slipping up and the likes of Hull and Crystal Palace recording huge wins.
Things are only going to get more tense, then, and so here are the three players we reckon need to be watched in the heat of it all…
Jermain Defoe (if he’s even fit – it’s touch and go)
Defoe really is Sunderland’s only hope now as the Black Cats head to Leicester. Most people think they’re gone after they lost to Watford last time out and we certainly think that’s the case too. Can the recent England re-call help boost Defoe further for the men from the north-east? He’ll have to be going some.
Manchester United look so blunt without the veteran striker and so they’ll be pleased he’s back from his ban. It’s nailed on that he is going to start and it remains to be seen whether he can fire them to the top four. Have United left their surge too late? We shall see.
Lukaku went missing at Anfield at the weekend and those question marks over him doing it against the big clubs are persisting. The big Belgian has another chance to right that against United and with rumours suggesting he could be on the way there in the summer he might suddenly step up…
