It may only be the end of March but try telling the transfer rumour mill that as it continues to churn out stories and links.

Of course, some are more believable than others and it really is best to take most with a pinch of salt until a player has donned the shirt of the club he has signed for.

Until then, though, speculation reigns supreme whilst we all have to navigate through the different rumours the best we can.

Even so, it’s always intriguing to look at who the biggest clubs should target in the summer – regardless of recent stories – and that is exactly what we’ve done.

Time, then, to look at who Rush Football reckons the big six in the Premier League should sign from the cream of the game…

Chelsea – Leonardo Bonucci

Perhaps not the most groundbreaking move in the world but this would surely tie up the one weakness Chelsea have. Cesar Azpiliceuta is a top player but can be targeted in the Blues’ back-three so bringing in Bonucci would solve that. It would also allow the Spaniard to play in a more natural position and give Chelsea even more balance than they already possess.

Tottenham – Alexandre Lacazette

Spurs have a great side but the one thing they still need is an extra top striker. Vincent Janssen is seemingly not good enough and so Mauricio Pochettino should go for someone just itching to become world-class. Lacazette just needs the stage on which to showcase his talent and a partnership with Harry Kane could prove devastating with the Frenchman buzzing around the England man as a focal point.

Manchester City – Aymeric Laporte

Manchester City already have one of the most potent attacks in Europe so it’s in defence where they need to bolster. Vincent Kompany may never return to full-fitness whilst the question marks over John Stones persist. Step forward Bilbao man Laporte, then, with him easily going to be one of the best defenders in the world.

Liverpool – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang

Liverpool’s defence is not good enough and will need adding to, but it’s going forward they also need that world class star. Roberto Firmino has done a fine job up top but you can tell he’d be better off playing slightly deeper. The Reds need someone who is going to stretch opposition defences and play right on the shoulder and Aubameyang is one of the best in the world at that.

Manchester United – Raphael Varane

Most United fans want to see Antoine Griezmann but what they need more than anything else is defensive acquisitions. The French defender Raphael Varane is truly top drawer and if he gets continually taken out of the Real Madrid side he’ll want to move. He could be the perfect man to upgrade United’s young and upcoming back four.

Arsenal – Marco Reus

Arsenal could be set for the busiest window out of all the top clubs this summer and that will likely be in terms of both incomings and outgoings. Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil could be on their way so Marco Reus would be the perfect man to help replace them. He roams freely in space and creates and scores goals meaning the Gunners would still carry some threat.
