Tottenham have opted to fine Sergio Reguilon, Erik Lamela and Giovani Lo Celso for regulation breaches on Christmas Day.

As per The Athletic, the club has decided to hit the trio with the penalty after they spent Christmas together, along with West Ham United man Manuel Lanzini and their respective families.

The players have since tweeted their apologies and Jose Mourinho will now be hoping that is the end of the matter, as he and his players bid to challenge at the sharp end of the league this season.

Rush Football’s take

The Christmas period was different for everyone and, naturally, people wanted to see their families and friends as much as they could.

Though the restrictions were somewhat lighter on the day, the number of people allowed in a room together is what the players have fallen foul of here – something we’ve seen a lot of.

Spurs have opted to fine the players, then, and all will just be hoping stories like this are things of the past soon once the pandemic has passed and we can get on with normality.
