In and among the transfer action over the coming days we’ve got a full Premier League fixture list to work through. What great planning…

Here at Rush Football, then, we’re taking a breather from all the transfer malarkey to bring you the talking points ahead of kick-off in the top flight tonight and then tomorrow…

Liverpool in a rut?

Liverpool beat Manchester City and were rightly ecstatic about that.

However, as they so often do they’ve completely made it irrelevant with a loss to Swansea and then crashing out of the FA Cup.

Is this the start of a blip for them? Their result against Huddersfield will let us know more.

Basement battle down South

Neither Southampton or Brighton have been prolific this season so the game down at St. Mary’s this week promises to be a bit of a war of attrition.

Whoever is braver could win this game and with Brighton signing Jurgen Locadia and Leonardo Ulloa as strikers, perhaps the Seagulls will take the three points.

A loss for either side could prove very detrimental.

A London Derby six pointer

West Ham host Crystal Palace this week in a big game in the battle for survival.

Neither side is in imminent danger at the moment but they are in the cluster of sides fighting the drop and every point, therefore, matters.

Both have improved under their managers since their respective appointments and so this should be an entertaining affair.

Tottenham to topple United? Or the Red Devils to reign supreme?

The biggest game of the week comes at Wembley.

Both sides traveled to League Two opposition in the FA Cup but only United guaranteed their fifth round spot with a win.

Spurs need to improve, then, but you get the feeling United might just out-class them now Alexis Sanchez is also around.
