Harry Kane and Mohamed Salah have been in lethal form this season. The Englishman has scored 18 Premier League goals in 21 appearances whilst the Egyptian has scored 17 goals in the same number of games. But who will collect the illustrious Premier League Golden Boot award at the end of the season? We, Rush Football, weigh up the stats…

Minutes per Goal

Tottenham’s Harry Kane scores a Premier League goal every 99 minutes compared to Mohamed Salah’s one goal every 94 minutes. If both players were to play every minute of every match for the rest of the season, Kane and Salah would both finish the season with 32 goals. However, the Liverpool man has played 182 minutes less football than Kane this season, due to the fact he has been substituted off four more times than Kane. Just some food for thought the next time Klopp thinks of substituting the inform attacker.

Remaining Games

Both sides have 16 Premier League games remaining this season. Tottenham have to face eight teams in the top half of the table and eight in the bottom while Liverpool have to face six top half sides and ten bottom half teams. So far, Kane scores once every 98 minutes against teams in the top half and once every 99 minutes against bottom half sides. Salah on the other hand scores once every 98 minutes against top half teams and once every 88 minutes versus bottom half teams. If each player were to continue their respective goal scoring form, both player’s would finish the season with 32 goals.

Goals at Home v Away

England international Harry Kane scores an average of 0.72 goals per home game and an average of one goal per game away from home. Salah also scores an average of 0.72 goals per home game but only scores 0.90 on average away. If both players were to continue their goal scoring form home and away, Kane would finish the season with 31 goals compared to Salah’s 29.

The Coutinho Factor

The loss of arguably Liverpool’s most prized asset could prove to be the decisive factor in who wins the Premier League Golden Boot award this season. The Brazilian has provided more assists (6) than any other Liverpool player this season and his departure could be costly. Salah and Coutinho have struck up an excellent partnership since the Egyptian’s arrival in June and their relationship on and off the field had flourished in recent months.

Our Verdict – Harry Kane

It will be a close call but we can only see the Tottenham striker winning the Golden Boot for the third consecutive year. He’s in top form and shows no signs of stopping. The loss of Liverpool’s creative spark will also have a massive impact on the performance of Salah.
