According to the Telegraph – via Sportsmole – Tottenham are eager to try and beat Everton to the signature of Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes.
The Portuguese player has been on loan at Goodison Park from the Catalan side and in flashes has shown the quality and class he has.
You wouldn’t say he has ripped things up this season, though, and so it seems a little confusing as to why the Lilywhites might be interested.
With Mousa Dembele gone, question marks over the future of Christian Eriksen and the likes of Eric Dier and Harry Winks splitting opinion, though, you can perhaps see why they need a new midfield presence.
Would Gomes be good enough, though? That is the question that Spurs fans will hope is handed a positive answer.
Everton fans, meanwhile, would like to think that if they offer him the chance to stay at their club, he will.
An interesting few weeks await.
