Former Chelsea man and Talksport pundit Jason Cundy has said that Tottenham will not win the league and that he is backing Liverpool to retain the title, with him explaining that football is currently ‘drunk.’

Tottenham have had a steady start to the season and things certainly picked up a notch on Sunday with them hammering Manchester United 6-1 at Old Trafford.

Indeed, that made for part one of an incredible Sunday evening in the Premier League that saw Liverpool beaten heavily by Aston Villa and many are thinking we could now get a very open title race, with Spurs one of the contenders.

For Cundy, though, there is still a good chance that Liverpool will win the league and Spurs will fall short, with him suggesting that things in the league will eventually get back to a level of normality after this crazy start.

The former Chelsea man said on Talksport:

“You can make a case for Spurs going very close, there will be plenty of Spurs fans phoning up and saying they can [win it].

“There are plenty of reasons Spurs can, but the one reason they won’t is because Liverpool will.

“I cannot see beyond Liverpool. They haven’t been as good this season. Defensively, they’ve not looked as assured. But I just think this is an odd season.

“Football is drunk at the minute. Football has been out on the slosh. Since the season started, football is absolutely sloshed.

“Sober up, football. Come back when you’re ready. Get to bed.

“I think football will come back sober and Liverpool will come back sober.”
