Aston Villa star Wesley is upping his recovery from injury with the club posting a clip of him embarking on a short, sharp run on their Twitter handle.

The Brazilian quickly became a Villa regular last season thanks to some decent performances in claret and blue.

However, an injury picked up midway through the campaign ruled him out for the rest of the 19/20 season and, indeed, he has been missing ever since.

He’s shown fortitude in his recovery, though, and it is good to see him back out on the grass and looking mobile in this latest update from the club:

Rush Football’s take

It’s obviously not the most intense piece of physical work you’re going to see a footballer do but, from where Wesley has had to come from, it’s still significant and positive to see.

He’s been out for so long that his recovery was always going to have to involve a real build-up of fitness and sharpness, too, and it looks as though he is well into that stage now.

Indeed, it shouldn’t be too long before we see him back challenging for a start and adding his availability to the Villa side once more is a real boost for Dean Smith heading into 2021.
