West Ham are among 13 clubs in the race to try and sign striker Portu from Spanish side Girona according to Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo.
The Hammers have had a decent first year under Manuel Pellegrini and will be looking to build on that to get in among the European spots next season.
Pellegrini should have a decent idea of where he wants to strengthen, then, and it is clear that they need a new attacking signing in order to try and reach that next level.
Andy Carroll is off, Marko Arnautovic’s future remains unclear and the same can be said for Javier Hernandez.
A new goal-scorer is needed, then, and Portu – who was recently relegated from La Liga with Girona – is apparently on the Irons’ radar.
Whether or not the Hammers manage to get him, though, remains to be seen as it would appear they have got plenty of company in the chase to get him signed.
