Harry Kane recently came onto the footballing scene after scoring 20+ Premier League goals in three consecutive seasons. But is he just a flash in the pan?

In the 2014-15 season, Kane scored 21 league goals, seven in the Europa League and three in the League Cup. This means in total he reached the 30+ goal milestone, last achieved by a Tottenham player in 1991-92 (Gary Lineker). Consequently, he was named the PFA Young Player of the Year and the Tottenham Hotspur Player of the Year. Additionally, he made the Premier League PFA Team of the Year. However, unfortunately for Spurs fans, Kane was probably just a one-season wonder.

During the 2015-16 season, Kane earned his third Player of the Month award, became the club’s highest goal scorer in a single season (with 25 league goals), won the Golden Boot, got named in the Team of the Year again and helped Tottenham qualify for the Champions League. But he was now only a two-season wonder and needed to prove himself if he wanted to be taken seriously.

In 2015, Kane somehow got a call to represent his country and found the net 80 seconds into his England debut. He has bagged seven more international goals since but he took a couple of dodgy corners for England and this is proof that he is out of his depth.

In the 2016-17 season, Kane scored 29 Premier League goals, four FA Cup goals and two in the Champions League. As a result, he got into the PFA Team of the Year for a third consecutive season, and won the Golden Boot for the second consecutive season.

So with the 2017/18 season underway, it is easy to see why people are beginning to doubt Kane’s ability, three games in and the striker hasn’t found the net once. Surely this is a sign that he is nothing more than a three-season wonder? Tottenham fans should be incredibly concerned that their ‘star’ player is a fraud. If Kane wants to be taken seriously, he needs to start showing some consistency.

It wouldn’t be surprising if this time next year we’ve all forgotten about Harry Kane, the striker who was nothing more than a three-season wonder.
