Wolves doctor Matt Perry has said that Raul Jimenez is making good progress after fracturing his skull against Arsenal on Sunday evening in the Premier League.

The Old Gold put in an impressive performance against Arsenal late on Sunday as they beat the Gunners 2-1 at the Emirates stadium.

Early on, though, there was a considerable stoppage in play as Jimenez and David Luiz clashed heads in an audibly horrible coming together.

Jimenez came off worse, needing a stretcher and hospital treatment that extended to surgery on a skull fracture.

He is recovering, though, and Perry offered this update via the club’s website:

“We are delighted with the reports from his specialist; he has made excellent progress. He should be ready to leave hospital by early next week.

“Once home, he will be reunited with his partner and young daughter who, because of Covid restrictions, he hasn’t seen since Sunday night.

“As his doctor I am not going to disclose any more details of his injury, his surgery or provide daily accounts of his recovery.”

Rush Football’s take

Of course, it’s going to be a good while until Jimenez is back on the scene for Wolves as he’ll need time to heal but the fact that he is going to return at some point is news everyone will be delighted by.

It was a sickening clash and immediately it brought up memories of Ryan Mason’s head injury – one that forced him to hang up his boots.

The Mexican forward looks set to avoid that and now he’ll take the time to recover with his family before eventually, hopefully for Wolves, getting back to scoring goals.
